Statewide: California Veterans news
- The VA is researching a new method of detecting prostate cancer through AI-powered algorithms that factors in variables such as diagnostic images, location and demographic info, the nature of a Veteran’s military service, and lifestyle factors known to contribute to higher risks for prostate cancer.
Bay Area Veterans news
- Stanford University and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System are exploring the possibility of building a joint cancer care and research center in anticipation of more Veterans seeking treatment for PACT Act-related claims over the next several decades.
San Diego Veterans news
- In partnership with state, federal, and VSO partners, San Diego County announced the Leave No Veteran Homeless program, which aims to make Veteran Homelessness “rare, brief, and nonrecurring” by fall 2024. The new strategy is dynamic, with county leaders exploring numerous methods of reducing homelessness. One such method: San Diego landlords with vacant properties are encouraged to register for the possibility of housing a Homeless Veteran with program assistance. More info can be found here.
