HOLLYWOOD POST 43 MEMBER MADE MEDIA COMPETITION

OVERVIEW:

Whereas Hollywood Post 43 is known as “The Post of the Stars”, and a significant portion of our membership work in the media, entertainment, and film industry. And, as a post we can help prepare our members for future success by facilitating opportunities for them to create portfolio worthy material. Therefore, The Media and Communications Committee is spearheading a Member Made Media competition which will bring our members together and showcase our building.

In order to match the wide range of talent in the Legion Family, this competition will have three categories: Scripted Short Story, Documentary News, and Social Media. There is a limit of 5 teams per category. Each team will have an allotted amount of time to shoot inside the Post.

TIMELINE:

The event will take place in the first quarter of 2022.

Jan 3, 2022
Teams will have the opportunity to schedule their location shoot at Post 43.

Jan 15, 2022 – Feb 5, 2022
Shooting takes place
Team deliverables to be turned in 2 weeks after location shoot.

Feb 20, 2022 – March 10, 2022
Judging takes place

Late March 2022
Screenings and awards ceremony

THEME:

The theme of this year’s competition will  be the Hollywood Post 43 Clubhouse. Teams can express the theme as they see fit, for example as a location, a character, the scene of an event, a historical landmark, or a work of art in itself. The style is not limited to genres such as action, romance, or period pieces. The choice is up to the team. Although the teams will be given an allotted amount of time to film in the clubhouse, the entire piece does not need to be shot there.

CATEGORIES:

Each category is limited to a certain number of people that can be in the clubhouse on the location shoot day. Although that does not restrict the size of your overall team. For example if your editor or composer doesn’t want to be on set then they don’t have to.

Although there is no strict limit to the size, budget, or scope of your team, we ask that in the spirit of competition you adhere to the following guidelines.

Each team must consist of at least 50% Legion Family members.

Scripted Short Story – Up to 10 minutes
Limit 10 people in clubhouse
8 hours in clubhouse

Documentary News – Up to 7 minutes
Limit 5 people in clubhouse
4 hours in clubhouse

Social Media – Campaign with at least 3 different sites
Limit 3 people in clubhouse
2 hours in clubhouse

REGISTRATION:

Team Captains will be responsible for registering their teams. A registration fee will be required as well as the Team Captain’s name, contact info, and Team Name will be needed. Once registered, team captains will receive additional information about the competition. Beginning January 3, 2022, through January 14, 2022 team captains will be able to schedule their Post 43 location shoot time based on availability. Each team captain will be responsible for turning in final deliverables for the competition.

.MP4 version of your final piece no longer than 10 minutes.
Title and synopsis of your piece.
Team roster or credits.
Team photo.
Movie style promo poster for your piece.

News Documentary
.MP4 version of your final piece no longer than 7 minutes.
Title and synopsis of your piece.
Team roster or credits.
Team photo.
Graphic Promo for your piece.

Social Media
Social Media campaign to begin within 2 weeks of location shoot.
Screen shots and recordings of your social media campaign on a minimum of 3 platforms.
Title and synopsis of your campaign.
Team roster or credits.
Team photo.
Primary promo graphic.
Access or screen shots of analytics.
