I was a 20 year old specialist during the Persian Gulf War assigned to the 1/227th Aviation Regiment of the First Cavalry Division.

My role was an aircraft fire control specialist for the AH-64A Apache Attack Helicopter. We would jump to various Forward Arming And Refueling Points (FARP) to rearm the Aircraft with 30mm rounds, Hellfire Missiles and Hydra 70 rockets throughout the combat zone.

My battalion would serve as the vanguard of the divisions movement north to cut off the retreating Iraqi Republican Guard Division in Basra, Iraq. 

I would enjoy finding the brave female combat photographer that took this picture of me on one of the FARP’s we reloaded 30mm rounds at just to say “thank you” for capturing this moment.
