Important convention rules: Legion post compliance

Legionnaires,

Department convention is quickly approaching and the headquarters staff is working diligently to get packets ready to make registration go smoothly. In an effort to help HQ staff, I am reminding you all that we are bound by our Department bylaws.

Article V section 17 requires that all Post submit an audit prior to November 15th. Failure to submit the certification will mean that your Post will be placed on probation until they are submitted.

Article V, section 23 requires post submit the post data form by April 15th, a consolidated Post Report, Certification of Officers, Certification of Department Convention Delegates, Certification that their bylaws are approved and pay all fees to department by June 1st. Failure to do so places the Post on probation until all these documents have been submitted.

Why am I telling you this? Because Article V, section 24 states that All Post not complying with Article V section 17 and 23 of the Department Bylaws, shall be placed on probation and NOT accredited for the Department Convention.

We have sent out an updated administrative compliance weekly and we have been updating it daily on the website since the beginning of June. Please check and make sure your post is up to date. If not try to correct it immediately to avoid problems when registering for convention.

The credentials committee has been established and has agreed to exercise their discretion that the by-laws provide them. If all your required forms and fees are submitted to Department Headquarters on or before 12 noon on Tuesday June 21, 2022, your delegates can be seated as delegates with voice and vote. If not, your post will be seated as guest without voice or vote.

If you believe the administrative report is in error scan your form or forms and send those by email to adjutant@calegion.org so that we can correct the error. Please don’t try and call HQ as it is way too busy attempting to deal with all the issues related to convention for the Legion, the Sons and the Auxiliary.

To provide clarity to those who will attend the convention, Article IX (Administration), sections 3-5 and section 8 should be read and reviewed.
