Resource Library Update

Resource Library Update

Department of California Web TeamTo prepare for the release of the new framework of operations Commander Aldridge is developing for our Commissions and Committees we’ve made some minor changes to the website navigation. Commissions and Committees now have their own web page and can be easily found in the drop-down menu of the Resource Library page, along with a link to the District & Post Bylaws page. The Commissions and Committees pages still need to be updated once the Department Executive Committee (D.E.C.) ratifies Commander Aldridge’s appointment of commissioners and committee members and the framework project receives final review.

At the top of the Resource Library page, there is a collection of photos of the nine US Presidents who were also members of The American Legion: Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush #41, and Bush #43. We’ve never seen President Legionnaires identified on any other Legion website. It took some time to find all the pictures of the president wearing legion uniform caps. You will notice some of the photos are from Getty Images, which we are posting using their free “Embed” program.

The Resource Library page has also been cleaned up and several of the graphics have been updated. This page is the fourth most visited page on our website. To help our American Legion Family members find what they are looking for in the Resource Library all the twenty topics have unique colorful graphics (to help make them easier to find) and they are listed alphabetically. The current library topics are.

Once the selection and ratification of commissioners and committee members is complete the contact information on the Commission and Committee webpages will be updated.  The Department Web Teams will also be contacting chairpersons to find out if they want their webpage information updated. Every California commission and committee has or should have a web page on the Department of California website. Commissions and committees are responsible for the content of their web pages. The Department Web Team will assist your commission or committee in getting the best possible page content posted of California-specific content.

Consider your commission or committee web page, as a marketing tool that helps explain the good work you do to help our veterans, their families, and our communities. When our American Legion Family understands what you do, the easier it is for them to support you.

For God and Country,
