Veterans’ Suicides are on the Decline – Awareness is on the Rise

American Legion’s very own Area 3 Vice Commander, Jeffrey Freeman of Oakdale, California, was recently featured in an article by the Washington Post that focuses on the declining rate in veterans’ suicides. Here he shares his own personal experience with this struggle that many veterans face.

The article highlights that at a recent hearing of House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Representative Mike Bost (IL) calls veterans’ suicides “unfathomable and unacceptable”

It also details the most current statistics released in the annual National Veteran Suicide Report, discusses the reasoning behind these suicides, and calls for the most effective approach in preventing these tragic suicides.
