Joe Sciarra is a 97 year old World War II Army Veteran who was born in Los Angeles, CA. After being drafted at age 18, he saw combat in New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, and the Philippines, and was part of the occupation of Japan for 5 1/2 months.

He recently did a recorded video interview series with the Arcadia Public Library.

In this video series he talks about his time in combat, including not only stories of actual combat, but also the people who got him through it, people he met, stories of good and bad times, and medals he was awarded. He also discusses the secret to his longevity, his early life, hardships he faced after combat, and offers advice for people having a rough time.

His passion for what he has done in life and for the people he cares for exudes in his discussion. Joe closes with an urge for people who love this great country to get out and speak out about what is important.

Thank you Joe for your service and for sharing these words with us!
