All California Veterans News
- Per the passage of the ABLE Age Adjustment Act in Congress, the age limit for enrolling in CalABLE has been raised from 26 to 46. The program helps individuals who become disabled later in life achieve financial equity. California veterans, particularly those who have been deployed over the past two decades, are among those most likely to benefit from the new policy. However, the change will not go into effect until Jan. 1, 2026.
Humboldt County Veterans News
- U.S. Navy veteran and VFW member Bill Hummel has been awarded Humboldt’s Hero of the Month for his continuing efforts in supporting his local community.
Los Angeles County Veterans News
- A memorial statue honoring U.S. Army Sgt. Diego Solorzano, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010, was forcibly removed from Veterans Park in Huntington Park on Dec. 19. Huntington Park Police are actively investigating the incident.
San Diego County Veterans News
- Veterans Memorial Park in Carlsbad, which is currently expected to be completed in 2025, has been awarded a $3 million federal grant.
San Francisco Veterans News
- As of Jan. 1, veterans with a disabled veteran, Congressional Medal of Honor, former prisoner of war, Pearl Harbor survivor, Purple Heart, or Legion of Valor license plate will no longer be required to pay bridge crossing fees in the Bay Area.
San Luis Obispo Veterans News
- From March 16–19, the Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum will be hosting The Wall That Heals, a scaled replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., as well as a mobile education center. The exhibits will be located at the Alex Madonna Expo Center.
