Adjutant Paul Brown

It is hard to believe that one year has passed since I started this job last December. What a year it has been! The Department HQ has been working diligently to provide increased function for you, our members, and we have had several successes this year. With the help of many people on the team, we have developed and improved the following:

  • Online forms are now easy to use and have increased overall  functionality  (calegion.org)
  • Website is new, improved, and getting better by the day (caLegion.org)
  • Membership Report shows both post success and need for improvement  (caLegion.org)
  • Admin Compliance Report shows post mandatory form compliance (caLegion.org)
  • Department can now transfer members same day we receive the transfer form
  • Department pays dues to National HQ the same day received
  • The California Legionnaire is delivered by email (except to those 500 or so members who have requested it still be mailed to their homes) saving The American Legion about $200,000 annually in printing and postage expense
  • Department is reaching out to Administrative post members and transferring them into local posts (with post permission)

So far, since July 1, Department has transferred close to 5,000 members and will be close to three times that number by the time convention occurs in June. Local posts should be checking the Transfer Report (mylegion.org) to contact these new members and engage them in your post activities.

California is growing, both in membership (we have around 4,000 more members than same day last year) and in functionality. Thank you for all you do as a member and fellow veteran to help make this happen.
