Statewide: California Veterans news

  • The Veterans Health Administration announced on June 5 that it hired more than 13,600 care workers and support staff to help implement provisions in the PACT Act, the highest growth rate in two decades.
  • The Korean American VALOR Act has passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. If passed, the VA would be allowed to provide certain benefits to Veterans of South Korea’s armed forces who served alongside American counterparts during the Vietnam War. Under the bill, benefits would only be provided upon the request and reimbursement of South Korea. 
  • On May 30, Governor Gavin Newsom pardoned four convicted Veterans. The full details can be found here.

Stockton Veterans news

  • Dignity’s Alcove, a nonprofit dedicated to housing and supporting Homeless Veterans, is reopening in Stockton after nonprofit organizers were forced to relocate because the previous property’s landlord failed to pay for structural repairs. The nonprofit is partnered with the VA and offers a variety of supportive services for up to 12 Homeless Veterans at a time.
