The American Legion Department of California website, caLegion.org, has come a long way since its initial redesign in 2019. The website has always been a valuable tool for active members and officers seeking resources to carry out their volunteer duties.
Other features include the ability to post your own content. Members with very little technical experience can create and upload their own articles for site editors to publish, they can also create user profiles and upload their bios and photos for others to view.
We’ve also been building a robust news section to keep members and others informed on issues affecting the American Legion and veterans and their families in general.
Browser Notifications
A new feature will now allow website visitors using the Google Chrome browser to receive desktop notifications on a Mac or PC. We’re working on creating implementation in the near future for the Safari browser on Mac and PC and for iPhone and Android devices.
The next time you visit caLegion.org, make sure to allow notifications and you’ll be notified every time an article is published, which is typically about 3-5 times a week. You can block these notifications at any time.
To receive notifications from caLegion.org, click “Yes” and “Allow” when the corresponding dialogue boxes appear.
If you don’t see the above notification box, click on the lock icon in your browser’s address bar. You may have to click “Reset Permissions” in order to enable pop-up notifications from caLegion.org.
(Below) If you have already blocked notifications by accident and would like to allow them, visit caLegion.org and click on the lock icon next to the URL box and select “Ask” to have the notification request pop up at the top of your browser again. If “Allow” is available, you can also select that. You may receive a message prompting you to reload your browser.
