The American Legion College
There are two versions of The American Legion College that California Legionnaires can attend. The California American Legion College is conducted in California and is staffed by a well-qualified and enthusiastic staff from throughout California. The National American Legion College is held annually in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Legion College is designed for Legionnaires interested in operating a more prosperous and relevant American Legion Post within their respective communities.
California American Legion College (CALC 2-2024) | October 18-20, 2024
The course begins at 8:00 am on Friday, October 18.
Graduation should be completed by 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 20.

PREREQUISITES:
- Complete The American Legion’s online Basic Training Course.
- Write a resolution on a topic of your choice.
Once your application is submitted, you will receive instructions on how to write a resolution.
Prerequisites for the course are now past due.

CALIFORNIA AMERICAN Legion College
Course curriculum focuses on management techniques, compliance, collaboration, membership growth, resources, and skills necessary to increase public awareness and visibility of The American Legion’s mission and programs in our communities.
Applicants must complete the American Legion Basic Training course before attending California American Legion College. Please email your ALEI Basic Training completion certificate to calc@calegion.org.
DRESS CODE
Business Casual – Friday & Saturday – Shirt with collar, no t-shirts
Business Attire – Sunday – Coat and tie for graduation pictures
Uniform Cap – Have available for opening ceremonies, photos, closing ceremonies, etc.
We recommend that participants bring a light jacket or sweater to class as the facility can get chilly.
MILEAGE & PER DIEM
Participants will receive mileage reimbursement to and from their home post, and $50 per day (3 days) per diem for the course.
About Legion National College
The American Legion National College enhances knowledge and appreciation of The American Legion and teaches the core values and contributions of the organization, its Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, and many subordinate programs. The National Legion College prepares Legionnaires for leadership positions in posts, districts, counties, and departments through education, development, and motivation. The curriculum challenges student leaders to think critically and creatively about issues confronting the Legion.

NATIONAL LEGION COLLEGE COURSE STRUCTURE
The curriculum centers on self-taught, small-group sessions supervised by graduate facilitators, staff members, contracted professional speakers, and national officers. Students review The American Legion’s core values, develop new ideas and consider the future. An emphasis is placed on programs, management techniques, and leadership skills necessary to increase the visibility of programs, growth in membership, and public awareness of the Legion and its corresponding organizations
