Commander Don Davis of Louis Hagen Post 340 received a letter from The American Legion about Robert E. Seymour stating that he has been a member of the American Legion for 75 continuous years.

Included in that letter from National was a 75 continuous year Membership Award for Louis Hagen Post 340 to present to Robert E. Seymour.  However, after much effort to locate Mr. Seymour it was not going well.

Then I got a call from Commander Don Davis that he had an idea. He said he would sent a letter to the last current address along with the copy of the award.  Several days had passed when he received a letter from Mrs. Martha Seymour. Don Davis called Mrs. Seymour and they had a great conversation and he learned that Robert was in a rest home in Richmond.  It also turned out that Mrs. Seymour had been in the hospital for some time and that is why it took so long to hear from her.

Martha Seymour suggested to Commander Davis that Robert’s memory was so that he would not realize what the award was and suggested that Commander Davis should mail the award to her and she would take care of it for Robert.
