The new, uplifting feature film about veterans, MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE—starring Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, a 90% real veteran cast, written/directed by U.S. Army vet and American Legion Post 43 member—has just left theaters and is now available to watch at home.

Thanks to the success of the film’s Pay-it-Forward campaign, the filmmakers have $20,000 worth of rental codes (funded by individual donations) to distribute to veterans to watch the film.

See below to request a code to watch the film at home.

MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE (trailer) is a dark comedy drama about a friendship, a family, and the modern day veteran experience.

The film is now one of the top 3 rated films in the country (🍅95%🍿95%), is loved by critics and audiences alike, is based on a true story, won the SXSW Audience Award and stars Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Natalie Morales.

For those wanting to support this veteran film and its messages (mental health, post traumatic growth, the power of community), writer/director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes (Iraq combat vet, Bronze Star) is asking for support from his fellow vets.

“In order to avoid getting buried by the studio movies, the film needs rentals (now) in order to break into the Top Ten on Amazon and Apple. This first weekend (MAR 21-23) is most crucial. To see the film at home and support:

1) Veterans may apply for a free rental code here:  www.bit.ly/mdfz-vod

(*codes are for Amazon Prime Video ** while supplies last)

2) Non-veterans, or those vets who can afford $19.99, can rent the film HERE on Amazon or HERE on Apple.

3) Rate/review the film on Amazon

4) Share something from the film’s social media: Instagram / Facebook / X / TikTok

5) Tell friends and family to check out the film

Thank you for helping us show Hollywood that America does want stories and films about veterans.

Your support is intensely appreciated. Hooah.”
