What is the allowed cover on the convention floor? Since this is a AL DOC Convention I believe it is the blue cap or higher position cover. I can not find anything on DOC Website that says as an ALR member I can wear a beret & my ALR vest as a delegate to the AL DOC convention. As the first ALR State President 2006-2007 and 9 year Chairman ALR Commission I always wore my AL cover giving my report on Sat. morning. Like to know your answer!
I met Ed Grimsley when I worked at PSD Point Loma back in 2001-2002. One of the things I admired about Ed was that he had a big heart, cared about people, and was someone I had great respect for, God called you home R.IP Ed.
We are very sorry for the loss of Harry Woods who was a tremendous leader and newly elected Area 5 officer. The family has lost a very strong father and we send our regret and prayers to the family for this great military hero.
Commander Grimsley,
I’m so very blessed to have gotten to know you and spend more time with prior to my moving to Washington State. You were a great mentor and Brother, one which I already miss as I could confide with you about anything in trust and stir up seriousness/laughter/fun whenever possible and right. We had some good times and I was very appreciative of your heartfelt and periodic Buddy/Brother checks, especially after my stroke. I’m forever thankful to our Lord and grateful to you for being a part of my life through the years.
It was extremely sad to hear Commander Grimsley had gone to Post everlasting. At the San Jose D.E.C. in August, I made a remark to him that he looked so stress free, like a weight had been taken off his shoulders, and he agreed. Cathay Post 384 and District 8 salutes all his years of service and may he be at Peace forever. Thank you Annette for sharing him. Blessings to the Grimsley family.
Harry was as dedicated of a Legionnaire as I have ever met, he was tireless in promoting our magnificent organization and we have hundreds of members that we might not have had without his efforts. Thank you sir for your tireless dedication.
We will miss you shipmate, rest easy, we now have the watch.
With sorrow and shock, it is difficult to realize that two great Legion leaders have left us so suddenly. Ed and Harry were my brothers that I respected and admired. We will miss them, their leadership, and their enormous institutional knowledge.
I had spoken to Harry to assure him that I would gladly serve under his leadership in any capacity. Now, I can only pray for him and Ed that the Lord will keep them close to him in paradise. I pray fortheir loved ones that they will be cared for and be in the Blessings of the Lord.

I worked with Ed Grimsely for 10 years at PSD Point Loma. He was a great worker and a great human being. R.I.P. Big Ed. 🙁
