I retired at age 45…..I’m not waiting around 15 years to enjoy a benefit I can take advantage of in another state right now. Why would I want to pay taxes in CA for 15 more years?? Get rid of the age stipulation.
These veterans most likely did not earn their retirement in California. They earned it at the East German Border, or Vietnam or South Korea or Panama or Honduras…..What claim should the state of California have on that????
It’s all about the money. Some military folks can put 20 years in and retire as early as 38-40 years old. That’s a lot of taxable income California would miss out on so there’s no incentive for the state to do so. The “workforce” line is pandering.
I am a U.S. Navy Disable War-Veteran of Gulf and Somalia War & Panama Canal Drug trafficking expedition from 1992-1996.
It is very degrading and unfortunate that G.I. Bill is declared expired for all Veterans those who served prior to 2000; those who like to use G.I. Bill for education to be competitive in today’s job force, the G.I. Bill which they are rightly eligible. However, those Veterans who were in war AFTER 2000 were considered eligible with Extension of G.I. Bill use. It clearly discriminates against those who served prior to 2000. I would like to appeal to the Congress and Senate to reactivate the validity of the G.I. Bill and allow all Veterans to access the unused G.I. Bill for education. Though I know, nobody reads these comments here on the website but if there is someone out there who is listening to my voice, maybe just maybe with a hope this message will someday reach to the Office of Congress and Senate someday to help Veterans to survive in this everchanging competitive job market.
God Bless all Veterans and those serving.
I need help paying for a home rental in Thousand Oaks, Calif. I am a self employed veteran ,71 years old. My business is not doing well do you me not able to work or do jobs like I used to. I can not retire, have no savings. Have to move current house rental do to owner selling home. Rents have doubled
Has anyone submitted a request to NOT tax military retired pay in California or Social Security? There are 33 states that do not tax military retirement income.
Think how that would help military retirees ! I’m 85 years old, retired in 1975 and military income was not as good as present, so your retired pay is low.
Thank you for allowing comments.

Agree why wait till the age 60. Logically it is about money and not about keeping veterans in California for jobs.
Why not include all that retired after 20 years of military service? Why should we have to wait until 60 years old to enjoy this entitlement?
