It’s been almost a full month since Gov. Gavin Newsom issued the stay-at-home order confining Californians to their homes and The American Legion wants to know how its veterans and their families are doing as a result.

American Legion national headquarters is looking to measure the impact COVID-19 is having on the veteran community. This week, the national veteran service organization launched a survey to track trends for the duration of the global pandemic.

In addition, survey participants can request to be connected to a representative who can help them file for VA benefits, employment and emotional support.

Veterans and their family members are encouraged to take the 3-5 minute survey by visiting surveymonkey.com/r/BJ5283R.

The survey will be available until April 29 and will be conducted biweekly subsequently.

“Since the launch of it yesterday evening, I have received 12 people asking for more information,” wrote Matthew Herndon, deputy director of membership for The American Legion, in an email to department leaders. “I am making the initial contact with these individuals and have had four already respond back to me.”
