California Caming Committee

At the 2023 American Legion Department of California convention, a resolution was passed establishing a Gaming Committee throughout the state. The committee has already established relations between The American Legiona, a veterans gaming organization and The American Legion program, Operation Comfort Warriors.

Investing resources in bringing Legion Posts into concert with the Department of California Gaming Committee would have multiple tangible benefits:

1

Open up a valuable opportunity for fellowship and camaraderie outside of regular meetings

2

Provide a constructive activity for veterans who may be struggling with mental health conditions, and serve their desire for a sense of community

3

Avail a Post to engage in multiple new fundraising activities for internal operations.

4

Useful tool for recruitment of younger veterans, and for older veterans when hosting tabletop games.

5

Enhance the functionality of a local Veterans Memorial Building to host veterans during business hours and during game nights to attract others and provide a quality diversion.
