WAYS AND MEANS COMMISSION

The Ways and Means Commission is tasked to find, promote, and support the fundraisers that raise funds for the VA&R Division. The VA&R Division funds support our Department of California Veterans Service Officers program which has close to a million-dollar budget. This is the only program the Ways and Means Commission’s net proceeds support. The Department of California Veterans Service Officers are there to help YOU!

HELMETS FOR HEROES STILL ACTIVE DURING PANDEMIC

From the Helmets for Heroes website:

Helmets for Heroes is a campaign program under the direction of the Department of California, American Legion’s Ways and Means Commission. The funds raised in this campaign go directly to support the Department’s Veteran Service Officer (VSO) Program, which is currently underfunded.

To effectively cover the state of California much needed support of our Veterans and their families, we need to have available VSOs strategically located throughout the state to service the need.  Veterans today are frustrated by the quagmire of red tape, mounds of forms to fill and the overall lengthy process in receiving a response.

Then more times than not, the reply comes back as a rejection or extremely low ranking score which means basically no help at all.  Thanks to the professionalism and fighting skills of the Department of California, American Legion’s VSOs, we are able to cut through the red tape and successfully get the results needed in obtaining for the Veteran and their families, their earned benefits.
