The 2020 Patriotism & Purpose Youth Art Contest reflects the positive impact our veterans are making in communities across the country and was open to California kids ages 5-17.
Artwork was judged on its positive representation of military veterans and their impact on children.
The Department of California had 26 art entries for the contest. Entries were submitted from the following cities: Alta Loma, Bakersfield, Borrego Springs, Danville, Dublin, Pleasanton, San Diego, Sanger, Simi Valley and Stockton.
The judging was done by numbering the entries, so no names or cities were used to identify the artist. The judges were from The American Legion and were from Post 23 in Sanger, Post 147 in Clovis, and Post 509 in Fresno.
First prize of $500 was given in each of the two categories: Category A 5-12 years old and Category B 13-17 years old.
Three Honorable Mention winners were also selected in each of the two categories. They will receive a framed copy of their artwork along with a certificate.
Congratulations to all who entered the contest. They made it very difficult for the judges to select the winners as all the entries represented the very best from the kids of California.
