The Convention Committee and members of the California American Legion Riders Department Executive Committee have been meeting virtually, every Thursday evening, in preparation for the ALR convention that was supposed to take place starting May 1.
We made the call to postpone the convention on April 2. At first, we were looking at dates in August, but as things develop with COVID-19, we realized that we should be looking into dates much further out.
So, the plan right now is to hold the actual ALR convention on Oct. 2-4 at the Hollywood American Legion, Post 43. We do have a contingency plan to cancel altogether if by mid-August things don’t look favorable for the October dates.
There is a Facebook event page to keep everyone informed of the progress and updates as they happen. The ALR Convention Committee will continue to meet every Thursday evening to discuss aspects of the convention and keep the progress up to date.
We will do everything we need to do to comply with the state, county and city regulations in regards to COVID-19 safeties and precautions.
