Judge Advocate Opinions
The following has been gathered, organized and prepared in an attempt to clarify for Legionnaires and Legion Officers:
A) the roles, powers and limitations of the Department, Area, District and Post Judge Advocates and Commanders within the American Legion’s Department of California.
B) the roles, powers and limitations of the Department Judge Advocate within the American Legion’s Department of California.
C) the procedures required for and limits of discipline of members and of posts and districts.
These opinions should be considered controlling unless changed, overruled or withdrawn for cause subsequently. Attempts always should be made to follow past opinions if possible to provide continuity and predictability and avoid confusion.
