Long ago, I was privileged to host the Leading Candidate for the position of National Commander (Cecil Hill) during his swing through California. I chose to introduce and share a meal with him at a favorite of mine and perhaps the best Red Oak BBQ in California at a west coast treasure, Jocko’s in Nipomo, near Santa Maria, CA. Thus began my tradition of treating the Leading Candidate and on certain special occasions the National Vice Commander to an outstanding meal. I have maintained this tradition, with as many Candidates that have chosen to visit Santa Maria during our DECs.  I cannot actually remember all the candidates and National Officers that have enjoyed Jocko’s, but I’m sure they remember the outstanding meals that are the Jocko’s tradition.

During our most recent DEC this past weekend, myself along with PNVC James T. Higuera hosted Leading Candidate Jim Le Coursiere (Connecticut) and National Vice Commander Randy Edwards (Utah) along with Legionnaire Harley Santos (CA/TEX) to an evening to remember. The food, once again was outstanding. I am grateful that I am able to join with and enjoy the company of such fine and dedication Legionnaires.
