Attention all California Legion District and Post Historians.
I am pleased to announce that the Department of California is now accepting submissions for the 2025 History Book Contest, now through June 20, 2025.
As I mentioned, during the last two Department Executive Meetings, and as announced by the National Historian in November 2024, only a digital History Book will be allowed for this year’s contest. Your History Book file must be submitted as an Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Most word processors, like Microsoft Word, WPS Office, Open Office and other document editing software can create a PDF file. File size is limited to 50 mbytes.
There is an outline available on the Historian-Center providing guidance on how to format a “One-Year History”.
Procedure for Submitting a History Book:
- Register as a Historian on the calegion.org/historian-center webpage.
- Once registered, and you select “Yes” a field will appear to add a file with a button to “Submit” your History Book.
History Books will be judged by several past Department Historians, with the winners announced during the 2025 State Convention. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be announced, with the 1st place History Book advancing to the National contest.
Again, any District or Post Historian must register for this contest to be considered.
