  • As reported by PBS NewsHour, Yale Law School’s Veterans Legal Services Clinic has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on the grounds that the department has unlawfully discriminated against black veterans for decades, particularly as it relates to awarded veterans benefits.

Fresno Veterans News

  • Fresno Pacific University is actively collecting letters to be delivered to veterans staying at the local veterans hospital and California Veterans Home this holiday season. To participate, simply drop off a letter at any of Fresno Pacific’s campuses.

Orange County Veterans News

  • A 30-by-60-foot American Flag now marks the spot in Gypsum Canyon where the proposed Orange County Veterans Cemetery is expected to be built. Construction may begin as early as mid-2023.

Sacramento Veterans News

  • Two events in Sacramento will commemorate Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Members of the Gold Country Base of the United States Submarine Veterans will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at Discovery Park in the morning, then Auburn Cemetery will hold a ceremony honoring two Navy Sailors who lost their lives during the Attack on Pearl Harbor.

Santa Barbara County Veterans News

  • A new outreach center in Buellton provides shelter and food for at-risk veterans and other at-risk persons. The structure was donated by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. Santa Barbara County has one of the largest populations of homeless veterans in California.
