  • On Feb. 1 at 9 a.m., the California Department of Veterans Affairs, or CalVet, is hosting a public hearing to discuss State of California Veterans General Obligations and Homeowner Mortgage Revenue bonds. Readers interested in commenting on the forum can click here to learn where to send a written statement.
  • On Monday, Jan. 23, CalVet announced six grantees for its Veterans Support to Self-Reliance Pilot program, which aims to help aging veterans who have experienced chronic homelessness find permanent housing and enjoy a better quality of life. The grantees include two Southern California chapters of USVETS, San Francisco’s Swords to Plowshares, San Diego’s PATH, and chapters of Nation’s Finest in Sonoma and Mather counties.

Alameda County Veterans News

  • On Jan. 26, the VA’s Palo Alto Health Care System is sending a mobile outreach van to the Civic Center Library in Livermore. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., veterans enrolled in the system can receive consultations, exams, and referrals at their convenience. Veterans who are not enrolled with VA health care can speak with an onsite representative for information so long as they bring a copy of their DD-214.

Santa Barbara Veterans News

  • As reported by Noozhawk, Santa Barbara’s Veterans Treatment Court has graduated its first class of veterans. The court offers an alternative for Santa Barbara veterans facing incarceration in light of a severe mental illness or homelessness. 

Solano County Veterans News

  • Per the Times Herald, on March 18, women veterans will be honored in a ceremony at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum as part of California Women’s Military History Week.
