George C. Aguilar, Candidate for Area 4 Vice Commander

George C. Aguilar — A Dedicated 34-Year Blue Cap Legionnaire

My name is George C. Aguilar, and I am honored to seek your support for the position of Department Vice Commander for Area 4, representing the 17th District.

I’ve proudly been a Blue Cap Legionnaire for 34 years, serving with the Los Angeles Police Post #381. My eligibility is based on 28 years of dedicated service to our country—first in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977, and then in the California Army National Guard from 1977 until my retirement in 2003 as a First Sergeant.

I bring with me a deep commitment to our values, decades of leadership experience, and a passion for serving fellow veterans. I respectfully ask for your vote and your trust as we continue to move the American Legion forward together.

American Legion Service:

I’ve proudly served as a Blue Cap Legionnaire for 34 years with the Los Angeles Police Post #381. I am an Honorary Life Member of ANAVICUS and currently serve as a National Security Commission Member (2021–2025). My past roles include:

  • State Scouting Commission Member

  • Two-time Post Commander of LA Police Post #381
  • Member of the Past Commanders Club

Family and Legacy:

I’ve been blessed to be married to the love of my life, Ana L. Aguilar, for 35 wonderful years. We have five adult sons, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. I’m proud that three of my sons and two of my grandsons are members of the Sons of The American Legion— continuing our family’s commitment to service.

Community and Affiliations:

My service extends beyond the Legion. I’m actively involved with:

  • Amvets
  • 40 & 8

Personal Background:

I was born and raised in San Fernando, California. I attended San Fernando High and Lincoln High Schools, and later studied at San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN). At 17, I joined the U.S. Army and served with the 9th Infantry Division at Fort Lewis, WA and Fort Gulick in the Panama Canal Zone.

Before joining the Los Angeles Police Department, I spent three years at the General Motors Van Nuys Plant and was a proud member of the UAW. I served as an LAPD officer for 35 years (1980–2015), including 20 years as a Police Protective League representative.

I’ve also served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 2379, and in my free time, I’m an avid RV camper and a diehard fan of the Dodgers, Kings, Clippers, UCLA, Green Bay Packers, and Liverpool FC.

Goals as Vice Commander:

If elected, my mission is simple and sincere:

  • To truly “Be the One.”
  • To be a strong and reliable liaison between the Department Commander and all posts in Area 4.
  • To reach as many veterans as possible and connect them with the Legion’s programs.
  • To listen to our Blue Cap members, learn from the incredible mentors across Area 4, District 17, and Post 381—and to lead with purpose and dedication.

With 28 years in the military, 35 years on the streets of Los Angeles as a police officer, and a lifetime of Legion experience, I am fully committed to serving Area 4 with integrity and passion. I humbly ask for your support and your trust.

Let’s move Forward—Together.
