As first reported by the Fullerton Observer, the Korean War Memorial that’s been under construction since its groundbreaking ceremony in 2020 will be revealed in a dedication ceremony at Hillcrest Park on Veterans Day.

The Fullerton memorial is the first to list the names of all 36,492 U.S. servicemembers—including 2,611 Californians—who gave their lives defending South Korea during the Korean War. The memorial was first envisioned by Secretary-General of the Orange County Korean War Memorial Monument Committee Joe Pak in 2009 after visiting the memorial in Washington D.C.

Prior to the dedication ceremony, the city of Fullerton will be kicking off its 34th Annual Veterans Day celebrations with a parade beginning in Downtown Fullerton at 10:30 am before an opening ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 142, Fullerton Emblem Club, and the city at 11 am.

U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Christopher Barra will be speaking at the opening ceremony.

California veterans are welcome to participate in the parade provided they are able to march in regular cadence the entire route.
