For many members, being a part of The American Legion Family means belonging to something bigger than themselves. The membership gives many the opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of veterans and their families, as well as socialize with other like-minded people. But membership in The American Legion Family comes with other perks, given through partnerships made by members’ state and national organizations. One such partnership will offer Legion Family members the opportunity to attend a Southern California race car festival at a discount.

The 47th Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, dubbed “SoCal’s Official Spring Brake,” is expected to bring in more than 185,000 people the weekend of April 8-10 and will include three days of racing and activities for families, as well as two nights of festival events, according to its organizers. In addition to the racing of turbocharged IndyCars, exotic sports cars, the Formula Drift Challenge, the Super Truck Series, Porsche racecars and more, the three-day festival has set aside some 270,000 square feet for more than 150 race-inspired displays. Families with kids can check out the Lifestyle Expo, which includes rock climbing walls, games, and video games racing simulators, according to the event website. Food trucks will also be brought in to round out the festival experience. Visit the Grand Prix website or read the 2022 Fan Guide for more information.

Legion Family members can use the promo code ALEGION26 to receive discounts on general admission for Saturday or Sunday only. To order tickets, call 888-827-7333, or visit https://gplb.com/ticket-prices. Download the Grand Prix/American Legion discount flyer here.

Ticket Ordering TIPS

The Grand Prix ticket website can be a bit confusing if you haven’t used it before. There are different ticket tiers, some include reserved seating on certain days and some don’t, so be sure you read the ticket information carefully. Be sure to plan out your parking, which can cost upwards of $60 for a three-day pass. If you want to skip the potential gridlock of the race to the Grand Prix parking lot, the event website offers some alternatives, like parking offsite and either bussing in or taking a taxi.

Here are some tips to get you through the ticket process:

  • From the main ticket page, read through the different ticket types and click the orange “Buy Tickets” button next to the one you want.
  • Review the information on the next page to verify those are the tickets you want. Click the grey “Select Tickets” button.
    • If you’ve selected a ticket type with reserved seating, the next page will display a clickable map offering seat availability. Click on the red (Reserved) or green (General Admission) sections of the map to view seat availability. (NOTE: The discount code only works for General Admission seating on Saturday and Sunday only)
      • The next page will display seating sections. Click on a section.
      • The next page will display seating rows with available seats.
    • If your ticket does not include reserved seating, you will be brought to a page to review your access. If this is the ticket type you want, add the quantity of tickets you’d like and click the grey “Add To Cart” button.
    • Select the ticket delivery method (either print at home, have the tickets mailed to you, or pick up at will call) and click the grey “Checkout” button.
    • You will then be prompted to enter your email address (and Tix number if you’ve registered in the past). New customers will then be prompted to fill in more information to create a new account.
    • You’ll have 5 minutes to review your ticket information on the next page before the page times out. If you’ve selected the right ticket type for The American Legion discount, a section will appear below the ticket description allowing you to enter the promo code ALEGION26.
      • If the discount code doesn’t work, you’ll see a red error code “(Invalid Discount Code)” and you’ll have to start over if you want the discount.
      • If the discount code DOES work, you’ll see in red text “(Code ‘ALEGION26’ Applied)
    • If you’re happy with the tickets you’ve selected, enter your credit card information and complete the transaction.
