SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Demonstrating the power of community collaboration and grassroots advocacy, American Legion District 22 joined forces with regional civic leaders and veteran organizations at the 3rd Annual San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk (ARCC) Disabled Veterans Resource Fair, held Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at National University’s Scripps Ranch campus.

Hosted by San Diego County Assessor Jordan Z. Marks and his Taxpayer Advocate Office, the resource fair connected hundreds of local Disabled Veterans, transitioning Service Members, and Military Families directly with critical benefits, tax relief programs, and supportive services. San Diego County remains home to one of the largest concentrations of military Veterans in the nation, making targeted outreach essential to ensure former Service Members receive the recognition and relief they have earned.

District 22 leadership was on-site throughout the morning to advocate for Legion programs, support navigating benefits, and welcome Veterans into the Legion Family. District Commander Tom Moore, alongside 1st Vice Commander Michael Mastroleo and Liliana Armenta staffed the American Legion information booth, engaging directly with attendees seeking resources ranging from VA claims assistance to community camaraderie.

"Resource fairs like this highlight the exact reason our posts exist in the community," said District Commander Tom Moore. "Partnering with Assessor Jordan Marks and local advocates allows us to meet veterans right where they are, break down bureaucratic barriers, and connect them with earned benefits that directly improve their quality of life".

The annual event focuses heavily on educating eligible veterans about property tax exemptions, county records assistance, and accessible county-level programs. In addition to government agencies, the fair featured Veteran-owned enterprises and non-profit support groups, including Dustin Hayes, founder of Red, White, & Badass Brew, who provided refreshments and fellowship to attendees.

District 22’s active presence underscored the Legion’s foundational pillar of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, proving that strong partnerships between county leadership, veteran-owned businesses, and service organizations deliver tangible results for those who wore the uniform.
