A MESSAGE FROM THE CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS COMMISSION:

Constitution & Bylaws CommissionComrades,

Earlier today I received a phone call from Department expressing some Post’s concerns that they have submitted their Bylaws with no response or action. Today I did an audit of what I have in my records including my emails. I put together the attached information sheet which I am releasing Department wide. I need you all to be aware of exactly what we have with full transparency.

Overall, 357 out of 394 Posts are currently in compliance which is just over 90%. This leaves only 38 Posts needing updated bylaws. The six members of the Constitution and Bylaws Commission have all worked hard in getting us there. I am grateful for the professionalism and efforts. A copy of the report is attached.

If the Administrative Compliance report shows that your Post is on probation for not having updated Bylaws but you feel they have been submitted and should be approved by now, please contact me directly by email (motorbones53@gmail.com). We are still waiting for some Posts to make corrections before they can be approved. Please remember they must be approved by the Commission before your probation can be lifted.

If you have not submitted them for approval but need to do so to seat your Post’s delegation on the floor of the Convention, you must send them to me by email ASAP.  We will do our best to accommodate getting your bylaws squared away, but from this point on, there are no guarantees.

If you feel there is an error concerning the status of your Post you must contact me and not Department ASAP so we can see what we can do to get this straightened out.

If anyone has any questions about this, please feel free to give me a call.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Mark Rice
Constitution & Bylaws Commission Chair
