American Legion and GivingTuesday

Today marks #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.

Individuals, including Veterans, are invited to support their fellow Veterans and families through the American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation here. A donation can make a real difference in the lives of service officers, disabled Veterans, and families in crisis.

In conjunction with #GivingTuesday, The American Legion announced #VetsGiving, a 12-day online auction featuring motorsports items and experiences. All proceeds will go directly to The American Legion. Read the fine print for miscellaneous expenses not included. Visit here for more information about the auction.

Originally launched in 2012 as a response to the consumer-focused Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday encourages individuals to contribute to meaningful causes such as helping Homeless Veterans.

#GivingTuesday is not just a one-day event; it’s a global movement that is inspiring people Veterans year-round. Originating in New York City and the United Nations Foundation, this movement strives to build a world where generosity is a part of everyday life.

Here are some ideas on how Veterans can give back on #GivingTuesday:
• Share kindness with neighbors.
• Volunteer virtually or share talents.
• Give a voice to a cause that matters.
• Discover local fundraisers or community events to join in giving back.
• Contribute to a favorite cause or fundraiser to help those in need.

The simplicity of #GivingTuesday lies in its encouragement for people worldwide to do good and contribute to their communities. Whether through volunteering, sharing talents, or giving a voice to a cause that matters, individuals worldwide use this day to make a positive impact.
