REMINDER: Tomorrow is the day, and we need California’s veterans in the room.
The Assembly Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs will hear three bills our coalition supports. Here is what is on the line:
- SB 623 (Senator Archuleta), the Veterans’ Bond Act of 2026: a bond to invest in housing and home loans for California veterans.
- SB 1407 (Senator Archuleta): exempts military retirement pay and survivor benefits from state income tax, removing the current $20,000 cap so this income is fully tax-free.
- SB 888 (Senator Seyarto): lets more disabled veterans qualify for the larger property tax exemption by not counting service-connected disability pay as income.
The California State Commanders Veterans Council and its member organizations support all three.
Join us in person: Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 4:00 PM
State Capitol, Room 126, Sacramento
This committee hears in-person testimony only. You do not need to be an expert. Show up at the hearing, and when called, state your name, your organization, and that you support the bill. A room full of veterans sends a message no email can match.
Cannot get to Sacramento? You can still help. Go to bearflagveterans.com to add your support and make your voice count from anywhere.
Please forward this to your members, your posts, and every veteran you know. The more of us who show up, the harder we are to ignore.
