FINALLY! A start! 🙂 MAJOR THANKS to All whom have pushed/prodded/’beat drum” SO long to (start!) correcting this BAD problem for us Uniformed Services’ Retirees!
With family reasons related to Aging requiring my spouse & me to relocate to CA from 1 of the 38! States not Taxing Mil Ret. Pay in next cpl of yrs, staring down the barrel of CA’s well-known Tax “GUT PUNCH” has been a BIG “Negative!
This helps! NOW, “Guns Up!” toward FULL EQUITY with the 39 States NOT Taxing Mil. Ret. Pay at all!!
Thank you California American Legion from a Vietnam combat veteran who just returned from a Honor Flight to DC. I am now suffering from Agent Orange and got the new metal for it. My dad served in WW2 and was wounded in Italy and received the bronze star for Valar and my son was wounded in Afghanistan war so we all appreciate your help with Veterans.
Thank you American Legion, Department of California. I was raised by my father and mother who both worked during World War II. My father was shot in France and spent two years in a hospital in England and another year in the Hospital in California. My mother worked on US war planes and making chocolate bars for the soldiers in France.
My father did not complain about his body that was healing but always hurt him, and affected his walking after he got out of the Hospital. The US Army awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his fighting in France. Thank you again!
My father taught me to fire a rifle and how to shoot in the wild for food. As a boy he taught me to not point a rifle at any person. He and my mother raised four children.
I joined the Navy while I was in my last year of school. I volunteered because of the Vietnam War. After boot camp in California, the Navy sent me to Electrical Repair. The Navy sent me to Morocco to work with the Moroccan’s on a US Naval air base. After that I spent my Navy life on a Minesweeper in Charleston, South Carolina, crossing the Atlantic again and the Southern Hemisphere. Learned a lot about mines and shooting big guns. Retired from the Navy December 1969. Got a job with a life long Telephone company. Wonderful!
Third time’s a charm!
Hoping this passes both houses this time!
Thank you for leading the charge on this, Rep. Takano (CA).
So many are with you on this!!
All 4 Bills are excellent…Do any of them, especially Rep. Bost (R-ILL) Bill,
provide for erasing the “must file an appeal within one year of claim” nonsense. And also allow a Veteran to appeal a Pact Act claim from 2023, disagreeing with the effective date but not disagreeing with the award of SC connection provided in the Rating Decision? Or, invoking evidence from claims and reports existing in an entire C-File that support a new claim or NOD?
I live at a senior Veteran apartment building in Long Beach. A new building next door, the “Cove at Century Villages at Cabrillo” isn’t full. 89 units BUT 16 units are for non-Veteran homeless. No 24 hour services for them. They’re noisy, hungry, needy. They were set-up to fail. The Cove is NOT suitable for a Veteran with PTSD or fragile. Tragic.
Is there accountability for the VSSR program which received nearly $4 million? I’m a 73 year old Air Force Veteran residing at the Plaza in Long Beach CA. The Plaza is primarily senior Veterans.
I’d like to know where the money is going.
This is simply outrageous; yet not surprising from the cruel tactics of con man Trump and his clown government . Trump belongs in jail, not good people especially veterans like Retes.

I can not comment with what I want because I am concerned about VA benefits

How do I get the Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins for myself (US Army) and my brother (US Navy) that served 1968-1974.
Thank you,
Phil Rich
